When I was trying to find my voice in photography, I had a very clear vision in my head of what I wanted to create. To put it in words, I wanted to create still pictures that moved. In other words, I wanted to expand the definition of the still photograph. I struggled with this concept and eventually gave up. I talk about it and show a demonstration at this website.
Recently I saw this video on youtube
and I realized where I went wrong. The vision I had in my head in 1971 was exactly what you see in the video. I had taken one wrong turn that led me in the wrong direction. Instead of expanding the still photograph, I should have reduced the motion picture. That would have taken me to where I wanted to go. In other words, instead of using my Leica and making sequences of stills, I should have used a motion picture camera.
On the subject of Bruno Aveillan, this work…
takes me to this great scene in Girl On The Bridge.

I consider Bruno Aveillan as a visual and storytelling genius ! Hope to meet him one day, so many things to ask him !
